The Drift Inn

In the quaint little town of Yachats, Oregon, right on the Pacific Ocean, hides a little gem of a restaurant called the Historic Drift Inn Cafe. Colorful in history, deceptive by appearance but surprisingly charming.

The completely remodeled interior is fresh and clean, boasting warm and polished woodwork with specialty umbrellas hanging from the ceiling. The service was very good and the food better. From the look of the other diners, obviously this is the place to meet up with your girlfriends for lunch. There were a couple of local gentlemen sitting at the bar catching up with the latest news from the newspaper...just as it is supposed to be in a small town, at least in my view.

We were told the best things to order were the crab melt, crab quesadilla or the razor clams. Well, since all those choices are out for us kosher-minded, I opted for a grilled chicken sandwich with yummy grilled onions and mushrooms. Lisa chose a tuna burrito...yes, I said tuna. It featured chunks of seasoned tuna, spicy rice, black beans and salsa wrapped in a spinach tortilla. Both entrees came with seasoned pepper fries, which were delish. We also added a fresh green salad, which was indeed fresh and not just your basic iceberg - fresh spring greens and romaine with chunky blue cheese dressing. Mmmmmm!
